Hi there.
You can reach me at:
stirland at gmail dot com.
I write about how technology is transforming politics and campaigns at Personal Democracy Media's TECHPRESIDENT, a widely-read site headquartered in New York City. My work has appeared in the U.S.' most recognized media outlets, which include: Bloomberg Wealth Manager, Business 2.0, CNN, Congress Daily, Good Housekeeping, National Journal, National Public Radio's On The Media, The New York Post, POLITICO, Portfolio.com, Red Herring, The Village Voice, and Wired.com's widely-read Threat Level, one of Time's favorite 25 blogs. I've moderated and participated in numerous panel and
local radio and television discussions around the country regarding technology and politics. (They include the inaugural DENT 2013 conference, Personal Democracy Forum 2012, Tech Policy Summit, Public Radio International, G4 TV, XM Radio, WNYC radio, and C-Span television.)
My leading coverage of the historic 2008 presidential campaign and its unprecedented reliance on social media to influence the race at Wired.com was on the daily bookmark list of television and radio producers around the world. As a former staff reporter at Red Herring, I was part of the team that helped RedHerring.com win its Gold Award for "Best Online Consumer Web Site" in Folio magazine's Editorial Excellence Awards program in 2000. I also contributed to Gig, a book of interviews with Americans about their work. I interviewed Judith Halek, about her work as a doula. Susan Faludi singled out the interview in a Village Voice review as one of the more notable of the volume.
